I have had the privilege of knowing and working with Pat Gaston for more than 35 years. Throughout that time, I have witnessed his exceptional ability to inspire, guide, and lead with wisdom, compassion, and a sense of humor. I first met Pat while stationed in Germany with the US Army. His leadership principles were demonstrated from day one, when he explained that he would teach me how to do my job, but also how to do his job! As a young lieutenant, I did not understand the point of this. Sure enough, a few short months later, while stationed in Saudi Arabia during Desert Shield/Storm, that is exactly what happened. I was able to step in and fill his role when he deployed with a forward unit. Because of the training I had received from Pat, I felt fully confident and prepared to step into the Battalion S-4 position - a duty that was two ranks above mine - as the Battalion logistics and supply officer under wartime conditions. Pat's integrity, vision, and unwavering commitment to excellence are qualities that set him apart. What I admire most about Pat is his ability to connect deeply with people from all walks of life, listening with genuine care, and offering insights that are both practical and transformative. He doesn’t just coach leaders—he empowers them to lead authentically and with purpose. Pat’s influence in my life and the lives of countless others has been profound, and I can say with confidence that anyone who has the opportunity to work with him will walk away better equipped to lead, serve, and succeed.
