Founder of Gaston Leadership Coaching

About Pat Gaston

Web-sized-1_edited.jpg

He was born in Abilene, Texas and raised outside of Lubbock, Texas and is the last the last of nine kids. His father retired as a non-commissioned officer in the Air Force and his mother retired as elementary education teacher. This is where he derived his values of hope and love and his purpose in life - helping others.

He was honored to be nominated by his Congressional representative and attended the United States Military Academy  at West Point, New York. While at the Academy he rose to a regimental leadership position his senior year. He was commissioned into the Army as a second lieutenant and served in the military due to his sense of patriotism, drive for excellence, and to develop and use the leadership skills he gained. Taking care of soldiers and their families, as well as developing leaders provided meaning and purpose to his military career. He excelled throughout his career and was among the approximately 12% of second lieutenants who rise through the rank of lieutenant colonel and the 5-8% who are selected to command a battalion of soldiers. He considers his greatest accomplishments were leading soldiers in Operation Iraqi Freedom and that Army officers he trained and developed went on to have successful careers of their own.

Upon retirement from the military as a lieutenant colonel, he interviewed with Boeing due to the company's important missions - concerning military, commercial aviation products, and services. He continued working with people in support of process improvement teams and Vice Presidents in the Commercial and Services businesses.

His pursuit of coaching enables him to continue pursuing his life’s purpose of “helping others” and bringing his personal and professional experience and expertise into every engagement with clients. This journey allows him to combine a love for meaningful conversations with the drive to support others in leading with purpose and intention - partnering with them to transform their lives.

I have had the privilege of knowing and working with Pat Gaston for more than 35 years. Throughout that time, I have witnessed his exceptional ability to inspire, guide, and lead with wisdom, compassion, and a sense of humor. Pat has an extraordinary gift for bringing out the best in people—helping them see their strengths clearly, navigate challenges with confidence, and grow into the kind of leaders who make a lasting impact. I first met Pat while stationed in Germany with the US Army. His leadership principles were demonstrated from day one, when he explained that he would teach me how to do my job, but also how to do his job! As a young lieutenant, I did not understand the point of this. Sure enough, a few short months later, while stationed in Saudi Arabia during Desert Shield/Storm, that is exactly what happened. I was able to step in and fill his role when he deployed with a forward unit. Because of the training I had received from Pat, I felt fully confident and prepared to step into the Battalion S-4 position - a duty that was two ranks above mine - as the Battalion logistics and supply officer under wartime conditions. Pat's integrity, vision, and unwavering commitment to excellence are qualities that set him apart. What I admire most about Pat is his ability to connect deeply with people from all walks of life, listening with genuine care, and offering insights that are both practical and transformative. He doesn’t just coach leaders—he empowers them to lead authentically and with purpose. Pat’s influence in my life and the lives of countless others has been profound, and I can say with confidence that anyone who has the opportunity to work with him will walk away better equipped to lead, serve, and succeed.

I am writing to share my positive experience with Pat's leadership coaching. It can be challenging to find a coach who truly understands your specific needs and industry. However, Pat's diverse background and experience have allowed him to effectively tailor his coaching to my business. He demonstrates a remarkable ability to transition between high-level corporate coaching and the practicalities of blue-collar trades work. I have thoroughly enjoyed our sessions and am enthusiastic about the future growth and development that will result from his guidance. Pat is one of the kindest individuals I have met, which fosters an environment conducive to receiving sound advice. He is incredibly dependable and is not afraid to offer difficult feedback when it is most needed. While becoming a better leader is a challenging journey, Pat has been consistently uplifting, positive, and encouraging throughout the process. I am genuinely excited about our continued progress.
